Freshwings / Formation Teams
« Last post by Hawkeye on February 11, 2013, 09:53:14 AM »
I am the lead pilot for a virtual formation team. we once conducted our practice sessions on GameSpy. We are now looking for a hosting "home" on which we can carry out our practice sessions.
Our aircraft is the Lockheed T-33 (by Tim "Piglet" Conrad) and painted in our team paint scheme. At present we are total 6 pilots with an additional ground pilot known as our cameraman and he uses the ORBIX 1st Person Bob as the camera. There is a remote possibility that we could at some point in time graduate to nine planes ot counting the camera.
Does anyone know of a hosting server (free of course because we are a non-profit org with no $$ in the bank) that would be available for our use?

Any help is much appreciated

Freshwings / Re: question from a fresh fsx-er

Is there anybody here who can explain to me how to set up my own direct host session?

Go to the multiplayer section in the flight simulator. There should be an option select the one that says local network (LAN), Select that option.
Next click sign in then host a session. From there you will set up everything that you want in your session, location, time, max players, etc.

Hope i can find the knowledge here to get online play going...2 pc's on one lan network works fine, but from 2 different locations it wont work with what we have tried, and i have a feeling the solutions fairly easy (maybe vpn?)
If you are connected to the internet anyone should be able to connect to your hosted session. However access to maybe blocked due to ports being closed in your router firewall and/or computer firewall. FSX requires the following ports to be open for use 23456, 6073 and port range 6112-6122. Also when you are trying to get someone to connect to your server you must give them your external IP address this can be found by going to a website like http://whatismyipaddress.com/ip-lookup. If you need anymore help feel free to ask.

Freshwings / question from a fresh fsx-er
« Last post by MustangFreak on January 05, 2013, 05:29:06 PM »
Hi there,

Mustangfreak the name and quite says it all. I have a weak spot for anything that goes fast, and i love vintage stuff ;)

Just got a late copy of fsx, just to find gamespy does not support regular online gameplay.
So i think hosting myself for racing missions should not be too hard but i run into brick walls all the time.

Is there anybody here who can explain to me how to set up my own direct host session?

Hope i can find the knowledge here to get online play going...2 pc's on one lan network works fine, but from 2 different locations it wont work with what we have tried, and i have a feeling the solutions fairly easy (maybe vpn?)

Any thought?

« Last post by Robert VAE on December 18, 2012, 10:14:39 PM »
1) Go to where it says Local Network (LAN) enter in any name you want then click sign in.
2) Go to where it says direct connect and enter in the ip of the server you want to connect to then click find sessions after a few seconds you should be connected to a server.

Or you could host a server and give people your ip so they can fly with you.
